Suspended Animation

Commissioned by Fellows of Contemporary Art, Marvimon, Los Angeles Commissioned after Fellows of Contemporary Art encountered Foodyteria at LACE. Nelson curated a quieter, more suspended environment of sculptural interventions, food, floral work, performance and a film made specifically for the evening. For the film Suspended Animation, Nelson entered the homes of FOCA collectors and ignored the artworks, filming instead brief details such as light on carpet, chair legs and reflections. The resulting loop transformed private domestic fragments into an anonymous architecture of attention.
