Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE), Los Angeles Invited to produce LACE's annual benefit, Nelson developed a participatory installation organized around food, queuing, photography, video and the choreography of gallery space. A single continuous taped line moved through the exhibition like a mark on a film set, guiding visitors toward a cafeteria-style sequence of small dishes and drinks. Cafeteria trays became palettes for edible compositions and then props for participant portraits. Outside, parked automobiles and discarded cardboard cartons formed a temporary perimeter, extending the installation into the parking lot. Collaborators / contributors: Jonathan Krisel, video collaboration; Cameron Gainer, participant portraits; rotating chefs and contributors.
