Desert Island

Rancho Mirage, California An ongoing site-scale landscape, hospitality and cultural project centered on the 1971 Desert Island Golf & Country Club. The property occupies roughly one half mile by one half mile and includes an eighteen-hole golf course, a twenty-eight-acre lake and a mature landscape of palms and desert vegetation. Nelson has approached the site as a long-duration environmental project in which architecture, landscape, club life, hospitality and future programming are considered as parts of one inhabitable composition.
