Aster Studios

2019-present

Downtown Los Angeles Artist studios and showrooms developed inside a building originally constructed in 1898 as the Waldorf Hotel. Repurposed in 2019, the approximately 168 × 600 × 1200 in (427 × 1524 × 3048 cm) space became another adaptive-reuse environment in which the support structure for making art was itself treated as a design and architectural project. The build-out also provided the working context for the Rock Paintings and subsequent studio production. Collaborators / contributors: Jose Alvarado; Tony Brown; additional builders and studio occupants.
