Margaritaville

Invited to make a work about driving in Los Angeles, Nelson developed a film and performance with Jonathan Krisel using a 1984 gold Mercedes convertible as both vehicle and mobile stage. They crossed Los Angeles making and serving margaritas wherever the car stopped, turning the trunk into a temporary bar and the city into a loose sequence of encounters. Krisel filmed and edited the material into a music-driven work that later reappeared inside ZaratExperience. The project established the automobile, hospitality and intoxication as recurring devices for altering the viewer's relation to a place.
